  Relocating the Teenage Soul

The ‘mantra’ of the teenage soul since time immemorial is “We are the World….”It transcends the boundaries of time and space. This realization crept out from the closet of my mind when I suddenly came upon a piece of graffiti on a classroom desk. It was a flamboyant presentation of the blissful teenage heart and a promising youthful mind with a strong belief in carpe diem. I kept wondering -- was it a mirror of distended ego or a platform to represent creativity at is nascent stage???

Graffiti on walls, bridges, monuments, trees, library books are a common sight – an earnest desire to defy the ravages of time.  “Nor Mars his sword nor war's quick fire shall burn the living record of your memory. ’Gainst death and all-oblivious enmity shall you pace forth;” echoing the words of Shakespeare the carved trove stands tall. The universal feeling of the teenage mind tries to etch a niche for them in this fast pacing world – a sense of belongingness…. Creating a community the artists carry on the legacy beyond an individual creation, a FB account with notes and anecdotes, likes and dislikes credited to its account.

Being a teacher I must take a tough stand but I am reminded of the nitty-gritty of my childhood in the memoirs and notebooks when our minds would fly out past the classroom walls and blackboards. With the new generation, the scope has broadened in all its aspects. So I become a facilitator instead. The pursuit to carve the Graffiti of self discipline in the tabula rasa of their mind makes me move out of the catch 22 situation. The journey from We are the World to We and the World is a continuous and progressive one. This urge to relocate the teenage soul has made all the difference.

Our life is transitory, so trying to leave an indelible mark is in vogue. Media in all its forms have tried to present a platform for us to express ourselves at our caprice. Little do we realize that “Nothing besides remain….” Time is a great leveller so Bon Voyage to all the travellers with a ‘difference’.

Education in the 21st Century

Education in the matrix of 21 century covers a wide panorama of
events, ideas and value systems. The matrix of technology has
woven its net worldwide and before we realize, we have all fallen in
steps. It has percolated in our day to day lives and has spread its
wings  wide  to  embrace  our  whole  essence.  The  3D  matrix  of
education  encompass  the  conventional  education,  technology
and discipline - - complementing one another to make a promising
individual.  Every  day  brings  in  a  new  challenge  and  we  strive
towards it with a wish to excel. The urge to surpass all and shine in
the human domain of learning, helps us to achieve our dream. So
the ideal world of education and learning is not far away with its
intelligent, flexible and tolerant child in the making!! I am really very
proud to be a part of this new awakening….

International Women's Day???

This day puts me in a dilemma with innumerable unanswered questions...questions which keep me pondering on the validity of the day. As a woman, do I feel insecure? Am I not sure of the freedom I enjoy? Is there still a huge gap between the two genders prevailing ? Do I need to celebrate this day and announce to the world that my identity seeks your approval???
These queries may take their own turn and interpretations may vary with every individual.
Going back to myths and popular beliefs, woman is an integral part of Creation in various forms...woman is revered, a symbol of Power, Sanctity.... all sources of creation given a feminine nomenclature.
Give me a break! Can we simply regard woman as a normal mortal being and pay due respect ? I do not feel the need to seek equality... the very question is deplorable- blaring out that there is no equality.
Sending mails, wishes and discussions should see the backdrop and make way to promoting our outlook!

Entertainment

Entertainment is a term whose definition has turned obsolete. It is no more an outdoor game for kids, socializing for men and women-- a place to build one's dreams and recount tales of shattered dreams. Now the gatherings are aimed to build potential tomorrows. To be entertained, you need the right gadgets and technology at your beck n call. We are losing out the basic and inherent talent as human beings and are ready to burn a hole in our pockets to learn the soft skills under a famous banner. We seek tranquility and solace with professionals who are popular, rather than trying to look for it within us.
I strongly contend that we all are born with equal potentials....which we have not recognized and hence not developed. It's a long and winding way to reach our Soul ...and getting lost mid way to the Vices is a smooth gliding.
